Abraham left the city of Ur to journey to the Promised Land that God had given him. He settled in the land of Canaan where he would raise his family. Abraham, Isaac, Jacob and Joseph all lived, grew and prospered here. The Promised Land would later become Israel many years after they returned from Egypt in the Exodus.
Since this culture is very different from the culture of the Egyptians, Joseph would struggle in the house of Potiphar just to understand the language. He would soon learn many new things.
